Keynote Session - Saturday 1:00pm
The conference theme for 2018 is By Divine Design. with Brent & Kristine Boswell as the keynote speakers.

The Lord’s hand is guiding you. By “divine design,” He is in the small details of your life as well as the major milestones. As it says in Proverbs, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; … and he shall direct thy paths.” (Rasband Oct'2017)

Understanding detours, dead ends and distress as part of the Lord's divine design.  As you recognize the Lord's hand in your life, you will feel His love and watchful eye over you.

Brent and Kristine are excited to share with you their testimonies of the Lord Jesus Christ.  They have found joy in spite of life's challenges and celebrate many tender mercies.  They have been married for 31 years, have raised four children and have two grandchildren.  They love Portland and have lived here for the past 27 years.

A Walk Through the Universe - Jon Brewster

Alma 30:34 ...The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its, motion yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.  The Universe is a wonderful place and we crave to know how it works.  Jon Brewster will share astro images of Nebulae, Galaxies and planets and we'll discuss where we are.

Jon Brewster is a Technology Fellow at HP, Inc.  He spent two years working at an observatory in Hawaii, has developed software for the astro imaging community, lectured on astronomical topics and the recent solar eclipse and has a telescope observatory built at his home in Monmouth.  He is the Gospel Doctrine teacher in his ward.

Food, Fitness and Faith:   Finding Peace with this Mortal Body - Cheyenne Hayes

While our bodies can help us find incredible joy, Satan is constantly at work, using them against us to pull us further away from our Savior.  Men and women alike struggle to find a healthy balance between self-care and investment with-out becoming self-obsessed and out of balance.  Let's take a more spiritual look at the purpose of these mortal bodies and set ourselves free from the never-ending struggle we feel to become truly content with ourselves, because when you start to change your reasons, you start to change your results.

Cheyenne Hayes is a wife, mother, business owner, athlete and proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest and lives in Washington State with her husband of 18 years, Will, and their three children ages 17, 14, 11. Cheyenne is a State and National Racquetball Champion and owns a successful restaurant with her husband. Cheyenne directs the marketing and accounting for their growing business but also takes a deep interest in intentional living, diet and daily exercise. She is an avid backpacker, has played piano for 30 years and loves to sing. Cheyenne is deeply passionate about life-long learning, studying the Gospel and sharing her testimony of Jesus Christ with others.

Living After the Manner of Happiness: Keys for Happiness in THIS Life and the Next - Cheryl Adams

“In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.”  Scientific and doctrinal insight into achieving happiness, regardless of the chaos that may surround us.

Cheryl Adams has been a single adult for many years and is currently living in the great Pacific Northwest.  Her biggest joy is her family; five children and 13 and a half grandchildren, all of whom live across the country.  Cheryl has spent 30+ years in the medical profession, but has also worked in the automotive industry, as a drywall taper and she also did a short stint as a hod-tender.  Her life has had more than its fair share of craziness, chaos and turmoil, some of which was brought on by life and some by poor choices on her part.  Throughout it all – good, bad and otherwise, she remains convinced that ‘all things work together for good to them that love God’ and “men (and women) are that they might have joy.”

Addiction Recovery - It’s Not Just for Addicts - Don Hokanson

We have seen the power of the Savior turn our most devastating defeats into glorious spiritual victories” states the introduction to the LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Program. The twelve steps of the program provide a practical guide to more fully apply the Atonement of the Savior in your life and deepen your relationship with Him regardless of whether you think you might “need” this or not. Perhaps like me, you will initially come for someone else, but ultimately embrace the principles yourself and through Grace find healing.

Don M. Hokanson has lived in Sandy, Oregon for the past twenty years. He loves his family and refuses to define family in terms of genetics but more in terms of who shows up for Sunday dinner. A business consultant and enterprise architect by trade, he helped start up the addiction recovery program in his stake. He has facilitated classes based on the program for Ward Council, Sunday School, Relief Society, and Elders Quorum settings. He has served as a Bishop and on the High Council. You can find him many Thursday nights at an ARP meeting.

Escape the Typical…Feed your dreams…Come & explore great tasting food.
A delicious journey, where tasteful creations begin!
– Tammy Heslop

Are you a “foodie” or "lick the bowl delish" kind of cook?  How about something quick when you are “hangry” or creating romantic elegant dishes, or maybe stuff on a stick is your style?  Whatever it is, come have fun, learn new recipes, yummy desserts, budget ideas, or just tips on cooking and saving money on ingredients.   This is a Cooking class…where your only limit is your imagination!

Tammy has always loved to cook.  She has been learning and experimenting for over 45 years.  She started a catering business in Utah then when she moved to Oregon decided to only cater for friends and family.  Some of her favorite things to cook and create are appetizers and hors d’oeurves.  She loves to share what she has learned, created, and to share fun tips to help save time and money.

Learn to Juggle in 1 hour – Gary Brown

Learn to juggle 3 balls with just 2 hands in less than 1 hour.  Have fun and impress your friends!    In addition to being good exercise it is good for your general coordination, mental and emotional state. Come have some fun with us.

Gary began his illustrious juggling career many years ago teaching juggling at the Renaissance Faire near Malibu, California when he was just 15 years old.   He progressed from juggling balls, pins and other potentially dangerous objects to successfully juggling family, work, church and hobby life.  Juggling has been an invaluable skill throughout his life.  Lessons used to be $1.50, as you can see in the photo, but they will be FREE at this conference!  😊

Escape Rooms
There are 2 escape rooms, but are limiting to one escape room per person.

Opening Night 8-10 participants (On Stage)
Its opening night at a local theater.  Before the doors open and the curtain goes up.  The stage manager is doing "final call", and discovers the lead actor is missing and so is his costume.  All the lead's usual "prep" places  have been checked, but no sign.  Some of the cast remember seeing the lead earlier but not recently.  The stage manager has solicited all of you, the stage running crew to join the search and find the lead.  Time is short and the show must go on...but who will be on stage?

Night Out 4-6 participants (Room 102)

A fun night of “out and about” with a friend has gone awry. You are now, literally, connected to each other and unable to remember the evening. A few of your other friends have arrived to help you figure it out. Where did you go? What did you do? Knowing the details will set you free. However, time is not on your side.
